Basic webinar how-tos for MSP/IT service providers

Webinars offer you a great opportunity to showcase your knowledge and expertise, but- most MSPs  think they are too time consuming or challenging. This week- we tell you how you can use webinars to position yourself as a thought leader in your space.

Pick a simple topic– Picking a webinar topic is the first and easiest step. All you need to do is, pick a simple topic and get going. For example, something as basic as-how to identify phishing emails or the benefits of cloud for a SMB can be interesting topics for your audience. Remember, as a MSP or IT service provider, what may seem really easy and obvious to you may be an unknown territory for your audience. So, talk about things that they can relate to, in a way that’s easy-to-understand. This means no jargons or IT-specific terms. Just, plain, simple English.

Keep it short-Your webinars need not be long to be effective. Even a simple, 20-minute webinar that focuses on important areas can work. The key is hold your audience’s attention and keep them interested in what you have to say. Anything too technical and long may result in them abandoning you midway through the webinar. Instead pique their interest and have them contact you back for more information.

Start on time-Make sure you start your webinar on the scheduled time. Don’t keep your audience waiting. It is unprofessional and will affect the registration and attendance numbers of your future webinars.

Webinar promotions-Webinars are a very effective source to attract leads, if you promote them right. Make sure your webinar gets enough exposure. Use emails and social media to promote your webinar. Let people know well in advance that you are hosting a webinar. LinkedIn is one of the most effective social media platforms for webinar promotions.

Leads from the webinarCapture all the information from the people who sign up for your webinar. Ideally collect their first and last names, email address, phone number and company name. Make sure you reach out to them and include them in your future marketing campaigns.

Consistency-For any marketing tool to work, consistency is important. Hosting a webinar once in 6 months won’t cut it. If you want to position yourself as a thought leader and want people to take your webinars seriously, you need to host webinars consistently. Afterall, 20 minutes a month isn’t too much to invest, right?

That’s all for this week, stay tuned as we give you a step-by-step webinar promotion plan next week!
