3 Things to look for when purchasing a MSP content package

It makes sense for the busy MSP to invest in ready-to-use content packages, but make sure you ask your vendor these 3 questions before you buy them.

In our last blog post we spoke about the 3 reasons why your ready-to-use MSP content package is not working. This week, we discuss 3 things you should be checking with your content provider before you make that purchase.

Does your content span across industry verticals?

As an MSP, you will be serving clients across different industry verticals. The sales and marketing message for your wide client base cannot be the same across the board. For example, when reaching out to doctor’s offices, you can make an impact if you speak about how you can assist them with HIPAA compliance, whereas for an accountant’s office, you should probably be talking about how you can help them handle the extra data load during tax season. You see how you can connect with your audience instantly when you talk about something that concerns them? Your content package should be able to accomplish this goal. If your content service provider follows a one-size-fits-all approach, their content won’t be as effective as you’d like.

Do you have different content formats?

The next question to ask is if your content package includes multiple content formats.  In order to attract prospect attention and keep them interested in your messaging you need to appeal to them with different content types. Some may be interested in an infographic, someone in a detailed whitepaper, some, in videos. Having a content package that includes only emails or presentations won’t help. Plus, you need to put your business ‘out there’ on the web so that search engines like Google index you and your business shows up when someone searches for an MSP in their location. That means, you need to be active across the spectrum with fresh blog posts, social media updates, videos, research papers, and more!

When did they last update their content package

Check with your content service provider when was the last time their content package got an update. Sometimes, a bunch of content packages are created and put up for sale, without updating or refreshing them, and they become irrelevant in a few months. Especially if your content quotes research data or studies, you need to ensure they are close to the time frame you will be using them in.

You could always check with your seller if they can share a content preview or snapshot of what you will be getting that will help you make a better decision.
